This policy covers the Ring Habit website and web habit tracker. The Ring Habit iPhone app is a separate product with its own privacy policy, shown on its App Store listing.

The short version: your habits stay in your browser. We never receive them.

Your habit data

When you use the web tracker, everything you create — habit names, colours, and the days you marked complete — is written to your browser’s localStorage on the device you are using.

That means:

• It is not sent to us, or to anyone else. There is no account, no login, and no server-side database holding your habits. We could not show you your own habits if you asked us to, because we do not have them.
• It stays on one device, in one browser. Your habits on your laptop and your habits on your phone are separate. There is nothing to sync them, because there is no account to sync through.
• You can delete it at any time, either with the “Reset tracker data” button in the tracker’s settings, or by clearing site data for this website in your browser settings.
• Clearing your browsing data deletes it permanently. We hold no backup, so there is nothing to restore from. This is the direct trade-off for not asking you to create an account.

If you use private or incognito browsing, your browser may block storage entirely or discard it when you close the tab. The tracker tells you when it detects this, and still works for that session.

What we do collect

We use privacy-focused analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages people visit, which language versions get used, and whether people find the tracker useful enough to create a habit. This uses no cookies and does not build a profile of you across other websites.

What is recorded:

• The page you viewed, your language, and general referral information such as the search engine or link that brought you here.
• Approximate location at country level, derived from your IP address. Your full IP address is not stored.
• Anonymous, aggregated interaction events such as “a habit was created”, “a habit was completed”, or “the App Store link was clicked”, along with the number of habits in the tracker at that moment.
• Anonymous performance measurements — how quickly pages load and respond — so we can keep the site fast.

What is never recorded: the names of your habits, their colours, the dates you completed them, or anything else you typed into the tracker. Interaction events carry counts, never content. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other identifying information, because we never ask for it.

You can block this analytics with any standard content blocker or by enabling your browser’s “do not track” setting. The tracker itself is unaffected — it works entirely offline once the page has loaded.

Legal basis and your rights

We process the limited analytics data above on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website, in a form that does not identify you. Because that data is aggregated and never linked to an identity, and because your habit data never reaches us, we hold no personal data to give you access to, correct, or export.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in the EU or EEA, that is the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

Third parties

Three services are involved in running this site:

• Vercel hosts the website and provides its performance analytics. Serving a page necessarily involves processing your IP address to route the response.
• PostHog provides the aggregate product analytics described above, hosted in the European Union.
• Apple’s App Store, if you choose to follow a link to the Ring Habit app. Apple’s own privacy policy applies from that point.

We do not sell data, run advertising, or share information with advertising networks. There is nothing we could sell: we do not hold your habits.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Since we do not collect personal information from anyone, there is nothing to delete on request.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will change with it. We will not retroactively begin collecting habit content — the local-only design of the tracker is a product decision, not just a policy statement.
